Performance Health Screen

Advanced Health & Performance Blood Testing for Men & Women in Cavan & Kildare

Optimise Your Health, Recovery and Performance with Comprehensive Blood Testing

Whether you're an athlete, regularly train in the gym, compete in endurance sports, or simply want to optimise your health and physical performance, understanding what's happening inside your body is just as important as your training programme.

Our Performance Health Screen is our most comprehensive blood testing panel, designed to assess cardiovascular health, nutritional status, hormone balance, muscle recovery, metabolic health and overall wellbeing.

By combining advanced blood tests into one detailed assessment, this panel helps identify nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, recovery issues and other health factors that may be affecting your performance, energy levels or recovery.

At CUC Medical & Aesthetics, blood samples are analysed by Eurofins Biomnis, one of Europe's leading accredited medical laboratories, with appointments available in both Cavan and Kildare.

What Does This Health Screen Assess?

This advanced panel evaluates many of the key systems involved in physical performance, recovery and long-term health.

It assesses:

Cardiovascular health and cholesterol

Muscle health and recovery

Blood health

Hormonal and thyroid function

Iron and nutritional status

Vitamin levels

Kidney function

Liver function

Blood sugar regulation

Inflammation

Electrolyte and mineral balance

Overall health and exercise recovery

By assessing these systems together, your doctor can identify factors that may influence athletic performance, energy levels, recovery and long-term health.

Is the Performance Health Screen Right for You?

This panel is suitable for anyone who wants a detailed assessment of their health and performance.

You may benefit from this blood test if you:

  • Exercise regularly

  • Train for endurance events

  • Participate in competitive sports

  • Want to optimise your health and performance

  • Experience slow recovery after exercise

  • Feel persistently fatigued despite training

  • Want to monitor hormone levels

  • Wish to assess cardiovascular risk

  • Follow a structured nutrition programme

  • Want a comprehensive annual performance health assessment

This panel is suitable for both men and women and can be used as a baseline to monitor changes over time.

Tests Included in the Performance Health Screen

Kidney Function

Tests included: Sodium, Potassium, Chloride, Urea, Creatinine and eGFR.

These tests assess hydration status, electrolyte balance and kidney function, all of which are essential for healthy physical performance and recovery.

Full Blood Count

A Full Blood Count with a five-part differential assesses your red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets.

This helps investigate:

  • Anaemia

  • Infection

  • Inflammation

  • Recovery following illness

  • Blood disorders

Healthy red blood cell levels are essential for oxygen transport and endurance performance.

Advanced Cardiovascular Risk Profile

Tests included: Total Cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Triglycerides, Apolipoprotein A1, Apolipoprotein B and the ApoB/ApoA1 Ratio.

This comprehensive cardiovascular assessment provides a more detailed picture of heart health than a standard cholesterol test.

It helps assess cardiovascular risk, monitor the effects of diet and exercise, and identify lipid abnormalities that may benefit from lifestyle changes or further medical review.

Inflammation

Test included: High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP).

High-sensitivity CRP measures low-grade inflammation within the body.

Persistent inflammation may affect recovery, training adaptation and long-term cardiovascular health.

Urinalysis

A urine dipstick provides a quick assessment of kidney health, hydration and urinary tract health.

It may detect abnormalities such as blood, protein or glucose that require further investigation.

Minerals & Nutritional Status

Tests included: Magnesium, Phosphorus, Uric Acid, Vitamin B12, Folate, Vitamin D and Ferritin.

These nutrients are essential for:

  • Energy production

  • Muscle contraction

  • Bone health

  • Oxygen transport

  • Recovery

  • Immune function

Deficiencies may contribute to fatigue, poor recovery, muscle weakness and reduced exercise performance.

Liver Function

Tests included: Bilirubin, ALT, AST, ALP, GGT, Total Protein, Albumin and Globulin.

The liver plays an important role in energy metabolism, protein synthesis and hormone metabolism.

These tests help ensure your liver is functioning normally and establish a baseline for long-term health monitoring.

Iron Profile

Tests included: Iron, UIBC, Total Iron Binding Capacity and Transferrin Saturation.

Iron is essential for oxygen transport and endurance.

This profile provides a comprehensive assessment of iron availability and helps identify iron deficiency or other disorders of iron metabolism that may impair physical performance.

Muscle & Exercise Recovery

Tests included: Creatine Kinase (CK), CK-MB and Myoglobin.

These markers help assess muscle breakdown and recovery following exercise.

They may be useful for individuals undertaking high-intensity training or those experiencing prolonged muscle soreness, reduced recovery or unexplained muscle symptoms.

Hormonal & Endocrine Health

Tests included: TSH, Free T3, Free T4, SHBG, Testosterone, Free Androgen Index, LH, Cortisol and DHEA.

Hormones influence:

  • Muscle growth

  • Recovery

  • Strength

  • Energy production

  • Mood

  • Metabolism

  • Exercise adaptation

Assessing hormone levels can help identify endocrine factors that may influence performance or overall wellbeing.

Metabolic Health

Tests included: Glucose and HbA1c.

These tests assess blood sugar regulation and long-term glucose control.

Maintaining healthy blood sugar levels supports energy production, recovery and long-term metabolic health.

Why These Tests Are Grouped Together

Physical performance depends on much more than fitness alone. Nutrition, hormone balance, cardiovascular health, recovery, inflammation and metabolic health all influence how you perform, recover and adapt to training.

The Performance Health Screen has been designed to provide a comprehensive overview of these key areas. By assessing multiple body systems together, this panel can identify nutritional deficiencies, hormone imbalances or other medical factors that may affect performance, while also providing valuable baseline information for ongoing monitoring.
